Welcome to hive sweet hive!

Hi, I’m a newly turned thirty-year old with an affection for bees, an appetite for anything design orientated and a knack for noticing the synchronicities in life. I’m married to a wonderful, sweet man (my hubbee) who also happens to be my best friend. We are rewarded daily with our five-year old son’s view of the world. He’s a constant source of joy and wonder. We also have a “baby” Maybee, who’s an adorable Corgi and Shih-Tzu mix.

Why hive sweet hive? Well...

We moved to St. Louis in 2007 and bought a home on Beethoven Avenue so it was meant to bee, right? We adored the next couple of years spent in our home dearly, but not so much our jobs so my husband applied for a job back in my hometown where we had met. Surprise, surprise...he got the job, pay-raise and all the day before (!) his company announced that they were outsourcing his department and he’d be without a job in seven months. So we were blessed and ecstatic and ready for the next chapter in our lives. We said our “goodbyes”, put our house on the market and we were off. Settled into an apartment for the time-being we began a new start. Most importantly we were able to spend time with my parents who were thrilled to have us back and especially to have their grandson close again. Turned out that my husband loved his new job, my son was able to attend a safe public school, and I was able to return back to school to jumpstart my brain. Unfortunately, during the good times we also struggled with a lot of frustration during two Realtors stints. Selling a house in the current economy was not fun. And every time we returned to St. Louis to check on our house we missed it. Our home had “us” written all over it. It just needed to be where we were now. Well, it came down to our lease ending and our conclusions that our house wasn’t going to sell. My husband’s work miraculously approved for him to work from home and make weekly trips to the office. Everything after that just kind of fell into place... and we’re moving back to the city! Although there are some downsides, we know everything happens for a reason and we'll bee all right. After all, the three bees are returning to their hive sweet hive.

This blog will highlight my devotion to composition, my compulsions to redesign in my own home (seriously, I love to rearrange the things in my home... just ask my sweet hubbee), the coveted objects that inspire me, and the celebrations we have along the way. I’m already envisioning the placement of my beloved objects and dreaming of paint samples as I sleep.

So please join me and eat, drink, and bee merry!
