Under the Weather

Not sure if it's a cold, allergies, or what exactly. All I want is to be home in bed.

Domino Files | Outfit to Room

Oh Domino, how I miss thee. You were an endless source of artistry.
As I turned each page I was met with your brilliance and beauty.

One of my favorite features was the outfit to room transition. Love these! I have each pasted in my design journals and I was so happy to be met by them once again online. I decided to switch it up a bit and try my own 'Room to Outfit' challenge. First, let's enjoy another look at the inspiration...

Now, for my take on it... I turned this room into an outfit.

Come again? Conde Nast is reusing Domino articles within brides.com home decor section. I may not understand it, but I am just grateful that Domino still exists! Find it here.

The Romantics

This is more than a romantic movie. This is a chance to revisit your youth - the freedom, the friendships, and even the love triangles. Any movie trailer that begins with a Wagoneer is destined to be good, right?! And who is the genius behind the song? That whistling has been ingrained in my brain. Plus this ensemble cast is just brimming with chemistry. Malin Akerman was hilarious in Couples Retreat. Josh Duhamel performance was charming and decent in When In Rome. I never got into Dawson's Creek, so I'm hoping that this movie will finally make me a Katie Holmes fan. For those True Blood devotees (didn't get into this show either) there's Anna Paquin. And Elijah Wood! Where the heck has he been? Well, J. Crew went and did something fabulous and styled the stars of The Romantics in their Fall Collection. Ummm...yes, please! I never thought 'scrumptious' could be used to describe fashion or a movie... that is until now. I adore the vibe and sparkles.

Thanks to The Goodie Life for the heads up.

Hey Ya!

Let's hear it for life's small accomplishments! Tying shoelaces is a milestone that's being celebrated in our house at present. Congratulations honey!

Hey ya! Shake it like a Polaroid picture! I'm so happy with my new Shake It Photo iPhone App. It was decisively the perfect way to capture my son's moment. I'd like to give a shout out to Apartment #412 for the fab find! I definitely have an ardent fervor for my iphone apps. Stylish pics anytime, anywhere. Kudos!

(That created a HUGE smile on my boy's face. I think he might break out into the Snoopy dance next time he ties his shoelaces!)

KT Tunstall | Tiger Suit

I am a loyal KT devotee. So I was beyond delighted to get a sneak peek of her upcoming new album, Tiger Suit. There's still quite a wait until it's released on October 5th, but at least we have a tid bit for now. Below our a couple of songs off her new album.

By the sound of these two you can be reassured that Tiger Suit will not disappoint. Her lyrics are always so transcendent and definitive. I love her. I really love her look for this one, too. It inspired me...

I'm loving my new handbag (featured above). I had bought these earrings but they turned out to be too large and "granny" for me so I improvised and added them as "hardware" on the sides. They add a bit of edge I think. It was meant to bee. I love it when that happens.

Back To School | Poppytalk Handmade

That's my outlook toward my first day of school. A little overwhelming.
Possibly intimidating. But on the bright side, at least I'm back in the swing of things.
I'll get to give the ol' brain a good workout.

What better to cheer me up than a bit of window shopping on Poppytalk Handmade
Enter their vast array of handmade lovelies geared toward "back to school".

I'm going to repeat this mantra to myself all day to remind myself

Almost Considering It

This is the most darling way ever to capture your pregnancy. It almost makes me want to
have another. ;) I'm probably just recuperating from my flashback yesterday.
Stop motion photography is so awesome. This family is so adorable and precious!
Isn't pregnancy such a miracle??!!

Get On Your Boots | Fall Fashion & A Flashback

Fall is right around the corner. Boots are beginning to pop up all over the blogosphere
(here, here, here + here). I for one am super psyched to unearth my cardigans and boots.
I bought a pair of riding boots from J. Crew four years ago (yikes! it's been that long?!
which turned out to be a really wise investment. Eternally classic so I always start
the Fall season off with that element covered. Isn't my son stylin' in my boots?
It's hard to believe he was two years old once. My "little guy" is not so little anymore.
Note to self: I should take an updated pic with him wearing them again this year.

Thanks to U2 for the title inspiration. Listen to the song here.

They're also included on the Project Runway's Piperlime wall. Kudos!

Tacky to Terrific | Tiki Wooden Fork & Spoon

I'm not sure when the folk art phase took hold, but one thing
I did remember were those funky large Tiki wooden utensils. I
vowed to always keep an eye out for them when I was thrifting.

Luckily one day I chanced upon a set and scored a deal at only 99 cents
a piece. At last they were mine! The spoon was damaged but I filled in the broken
section with a bit of spackling paste. It worked! Plus I gave them a fresh lease on life
with a few coats of bright red enamel paint. I chose to hang them horizontally opposed
to the traditional choice of vertically because I was going for a more modern feel.
I'm so pleased with the outcome.

Before
(Aaargh! I can't find the before pics.)
